Super Bowl XLVI will mark the 10th consecutive season a former Gator will compete in one of the biggest sporting events of the year. The New England Patriots match up against the New York Giants in Indianapolis on February 5 in a battle that has five former Florida players involved. Aaron Hernandez, Brandon Spikes, Gerard Warren and Jermaine Cunningham look to give the Patriots their fourth Super Bowl while Justin Trattou looks to gain a ring and add to the Giants total of four Super Bowl titles.

The University of Florida football team’s Orange & Blue Debut, presented by Sunniland, will be held at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m. The contest will be aired live on Sun Sports as well as be carried on the Gator IMG Sports Network statewide on radio and worldwide on www.GatorZone.com.

Former Gators linebacker Ryan Stamper was about to plop down in a barber's chair Friday afternoon when his cell phone rang.
He didn't recognize the number but picked up anyway. It was a guy calling to see if he planned to watch the Broncos-Patriots playoff game on Saturday night.

Six former Gators were active for the Wild Card Weekend of the NFL Playoffs. Of those six, five started for their respective teams. Tim Tebow highlighted the first round of the NFL Playoffs by throwing for a career-high 316 yards, rushing for 50 yards and accounting for three touchdowns in an overtime thriller versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tebow's game-winning 80-yard touchdown pass is the longest touchdown pass in overtime in NFL history.

Gators head coach Will Muschamp has tabbed former LSU colleague Jeff Dillman as Florida’s new strength-and-conditioning coordinator.
Dillman comes to UF from the IMG Performance Institute in Bradenton.

It was Doug Dickey’s best Florida team.
The 1975 Gators went 9-2, losing an early 8-7 decision on the road at North Carolina State, then reeling off six straight wins — four in Southeastern Conference play — before the traditional hiccup against Georgia (a 10-7 loss), followed by wins over Kentucky and MIami to wrap the season.

For the countless University of Florida football fans who began the season with sky-high expectations and perhaps even dared dream of a BCS berth for Will Muschamp’s inaugural squad, a trip to Jacksonville and date in the Gator Bowl may not seem like much of a consolation prize.
But to better appreciate the present, it helps to revisit the past. The Gator Bowl, from its name, its proximity and its 65 years of tradition, is a landmark that dots Florida football throughout more than a century of existence.

27 former Gators were active week 15 of the NFL season. Of those 27, 17 started for their respective teams. Tim Tebow, Louis Murphy, Aaron Hernandez and Rex Grossman all found the end zone during week 15.

Tim Tebow is already a legend on UF’s campus. There is a bronze statue of him outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. His immortal pledge titled "The Promise” is posted on a plaque affixed to the Heavener Football Complex.
Tebowmania is currently sweeping over the NFL and in a sense, our sports-obsessed country.

Most expected the Gator Bowl press conference here Thursday afternoon to include several questions about a former Florida coach.
But no one expected that coach to be Charlie Weis.
However, about 15 minutes before Florida head coach Will Muschamp and Ohio State’s Luke Fickell stepped onto a podium at the Hyatt Regency to discuss the meeting between the Buckeyes and Gators, news broke that Weis will be introduced on Friday as head coach at the University of Kansas.
